Split is the unofficial capital of the region of Dalmatia. Medici are distant from Split for about 35 km to the southeast. Split is the second largest city in Croatia with about 400 000 thousand inhabitants.

Age of Split is traditionally estimated at 1700 years, from the construction of Diocletian's Palace. But archaeological studies date back Split to the 6th century BC as a Greek colony of Aspalathos. And from there the name Split probably comes. The town's history is truly enormous and the biggest attractions is the Diocletian's Palace, from where the emperor Diocletian ruled the Roman Empire, whose walls surround the center of Split.
